Our Story

Jason Shulman, Founder and Owner of Colorado CareAssist

Jason Shulman, Founder & Owner

Colorado CareAssist was founded in 2012 by Jason Shulman after a deeply personal experience with home care. When his own family needed in-home support for an aging relative, the care they received from franchise agencies was impersonal, inconsistent, and frustrating. Caregivers rotated weekly. Communication was poor. Nobody seemed to genuinely care.

Building Something Better

That experience became the foundation for Colorado CareAssist. Jason set out to build an agency that operated the way he believed care should work: with consistency, transparency, and a genuine commitment to every family. As an independent, family-owned company, CareAssist isn’t bound by franchise fees, corporate mandates, or distant decision-makers. Every dollar goes back into better caregiver pay, better training, and better client outcomes.

Innovation in Home Care

From the beginning, CareAssist has challenged industry norms. We were among the first agencies in Colorado to include handyman services with on-staff handymen under a single rate. We pioneered the Digital Family Room, giving families 24/7 access to care notes, schedules, and billing. And we built Gigi, an AI-powered assistant that helps our team coordinate care more efficiently than agencies many times our size.

A Decade of Trust

Over 12+ years, we’ve served hundreds of Colorado families across the Front Range. Our 5-star Google rating, low caregiver turnover, and consistent client referrals speak to what makes us different: we treat every client like family, because that’s exactly how this company started.

Our Approach

After 12+ years serving Colorado families, we’ve refined our care delivery into the SUMMIT Approach — six interconnected principles that guide everything from your first phone call through every day of ongoing care.

S — Survey

Comprehensive Assessment. Every care journey begins with an in-home evaluation covering safety, environment, physical and cognitive needs, daily routines, and family communication preferences.

U — Understand

Goals & Values Alignment. We listen deeply to understand what matters most. What does a good day look like? What brings joy? These answers shape every care decision we make together.

M — Match

Personalized Caregiver Selection. We don't assign whoever is available. We match caregivers based on skills, personality, and compatibility — and you meet and approve your caregiver team before care begins.

M — Monitor

Proactive Quality Assurance. Care coordinators conduct regular check-ins and unannounced visits. Problems are identified and addressed before they become concerns.

I — Improve

Continuous Refinement. Care needs evolve, and so does our delivery. We continuously refine care plans based on changing needs, new information, and family feedback.

T — Trust

Lasting Relationships. Trust is earned through consistent reliability, transparent communication, and unwavering integrity. We build relationships that last — with families who stay with us for years.

Why Choose Colorado CareAssist

Most home care agencies in Colorado are franchises of national corporations. They charge high rates, lock families into contracts, and cycle through caregivers constantly. We were built specifically to be different — and after 12+ years, those differences still matter.

Our Technology

Managing care from a distance shouldn’t mean being in the dark. Our proprietary technology platform gives families unprecedented visibility into daily care while respecting the privacy and dignity of your loved one.

Digital Family Room

Our flagship portal gives authorized family members, POA, and estate managers 24/7 access to real-time care notes, schedules, and billing information — from anywhere in the world. HIPAA compliant, end-to-end encrypted, with role-based access controls so you decide who sees what.

Smart Notifications

Our intelligent notification system delivers important updates while filtering routine activities based on your preferences. Customizable alerts cover medication reminders, appointment notifications, wellness check-ins, and emergency escalation.

Client Portal

Our clients access a dedicated Client Portal for scheduling and updates. View upcoming shifts, review care logs, communicate with your care coordinator, and access billing records — all in one secure place, available around the clock.

Employee Portal

Our caregivers use the Employee Portal for documentation and training. Digital shift check-in and check-out, care note submission, training modules, and schedule management keep every caregiver informed and accountable from shift one.

Gigi AI Coordinator

Gigi is our AI-powered care coordination assistant that helps our team respond faster, schedule more efficiently, and catch issues before they escalate — giving you the responsiveness of an agency many times our size.

Privacy & Security

All systems meet or exceed HIPAA requirements. End-to-end encryption protects all communications and records. Complete audit trails log all system access for full accountability.
